A fifth generation Washingtonian, Dr. Purnell attended Bowie State University, studied Psychology at The University of Cincinnati and finished at the University of Lagos in Nigeria. Carrying the legacy of some of the first freedom movements for civil and human rights in America his ancestors included Station-Masters, conductors, and freedom fighters of the Underground Railroad.

 

 

With the goal to close the book on a narrative of pain that has normalized learned helplessness within our communities, Dr. Purnell began building & spreading the Love More Movement in 2011. Building Transformative Life Coaches and Healing Leaders from members in our communities, the Love More Movement is surely moving us forward from what can eloquently be referred to as the “social hospice”; a state where our people have unwillingly settled on being as comfortable as can be and sedated, with no change as the norm. 

The Love More Movement led by Dr. Purnell as of today has established Healing Stations in the DMV (DC, Maryland & Virginia), Chicago, both the Carolinas, Little Congo, Nigeria, Ghana and is set to continue spreading the Life Coaching program globally.

 

 

Building Healing Stations in communities where brothers and sisters can enter without judgement for their past, and instead are treated with joy as a living miracle for just being is not only revolutionary, but evolutionary.

 

Our experience in the story of The United States of America, can be reflected on as a stage play. Various scenes and plot devices have influenced our roles into the often unfavorable caricatures of the present day. Since the middle passage descendants of our collective indigenous family, both native to the Americas and Africa, have faced many adversities which we’ve never had adequate time to heal from. “If we don’t look at the narrative as a whole, we’ll buy into it also”- Dr. Bruce Purnell

 

We do not have the capacity to hold onto another generation of trauma so it is time to change the station our psyches are attuned to; from the language we use to how we are perceived. It’s time we tune into Healing stations, completely release victimhood to past trauma and move into liberation, freedom and joy; to conclude & close the book on Racism White Supremacy instead of adding another chapter to it.

 

 

Dr. Purnell’s movement to Love More is accomplishing this divine mission by building Transformational Life Coaches and Healing Leaders. By way of “The Overground Freeway,” the movement fosters mental liberation, “Brave Spaces and Healing stations” that build people into the medicine that continues to teach our people to love life and our experiences instead of numbing ourselves to them.

 

Dr. Purnell teaches through the journey of Manifest and Hope In his first book The Caterpillar’s W.E.B for Transformation Wisdom ofthe Elders and Butterflies to understand you are a miracle, valuable enough to love, be loved and can be more than an extra in your own movie.
